European health insurance and digital healthcare company Alan has secured €480 million in a new funding round, lifting its valuation to €5.5 billion. The investment highlights continued confidence in technology companies that are changing how people access healthcare. With the fresh capital, Alan plans to strengthen its artificial intelligence capabilities and support its long-term international expansion.
The funding comes just a few months after the company raised another €100 million, reflecting strong investor interest in its business.
Prosus Leads the Investment
The funding round was led by Prosus, with participation from existing investors Teachers’ Venture Growth and Index Ventures. Dara Holdings also joined the round.
According to Prosus, the investment supports its strategy of backing companies that use technology and artificial intelligence to improve essential services. The transaction includes both primary and secondary share sales and remains subject to customary regulatory approvals.
Alan Continues to Grow Across Europe
Founded in 2016, Alan began as a digital health insurance provider. Since then, the company has expanded its platform to include a wider range of healthcare services. Customers can use Alan to manage health insurance, book medical appointments, access virtual consultations, submit claims, and receive support through AI-powered tools.
Alan now serves more than 1.1 million members across France, Belgium, Spain, and Canada.
The company also reported that its annual recurring revenue (ARR) exceeded €800 million during the first quarter of 2026, representing 53% year-over-year growth. Alan said its business in France has reached profitability, although the company continues to invest in expanding its international operations.
Funding Will Support AI and Expansion
Alan plans to use the new funding to continue developing its AI-powered healthcare platform and grow its presence in existing and new markets.
Chief Executive Officer Jean-Charles Samuelian-Werve said the company selected Prosus because of its experience in helping technology businesses scale globally and its expertise in artificial intelligence. He added that the new investment will help Alan continue building products that simplify healthcare for customers.
Artificial intelligence already plays an important role across Alan’s platform. The company uses AI to improve customer support, assist with insurance claims, and help members navigate healthcare services more efficiently.
A Strong Position in European Health Tech
The latest funding strengthens Alan’s position as one of Europe’s most valuable health technology companies. Demand for digital healthcare services continues to grow as insurers and healthcare providers invest in technology that improves customer experience and operational efficiency.
With fresh funding, a growing customer base, and expanding recurring revenue, Alan is preparing for its next stage of growth while continuing to develop digital healthcare services for businesses and individuals across Europe.
