Looking after a dog’s health often depends on noticing symptoms after they appear. Wonderdog is working to make preventive care more accessible by combining at-home diagnostics with artificial intelligence. The California-based startup has now secured new funding to grow its platform, expand its services, and bring its technology to more pet owners across the United States.
Wonderdog Raises $5 Million in Pre-Seed Round
Wonderdog, a Hermosa Beach, California-based startup, has secured $5 million in pre-seed funding to support the next stage of its growth. The company, which recently emerged from stealth, develops an AI-powered canine preventive health and at-home diagnostic platform designed to help dog owners monitor their pets’ health with greater confidence.
The funding round was co-led by WndrCo and Maveron, with strategic participation from Jeffrey Katzenberg. The investment will help the company strengthen its technology, expand its operations, and reach more customers.
AI and At-Home Diagnostics for Preventive Care
Wonderdog offers a subscription-based health intelligence platform focused on preventive care for dogs. The platform combines at-home diagnostic testing, veterinary support, and artificial intelligence to provide pet owners with ongoing health insights.
At the center of the platform is Spark AI, the company’s proprietary AI assistant. It analyzes biomarker data collected through laboratory testing together with a dog’s electronic medical history to identify potential health concerns. By organizing and interpreting this information, the platform aims to support earlier health monitoring and provide veterinarians and pet owners with useful clinical insights.
Funding to Support Growth and Expansion
The newly raised capital will be used to expand Wonderdog’s at-home veterinary technician network, accelerate engineering for its mobile platform, and support geographic growth.
As part of its expansion plans, the company intends to launch services in Phoenix, Arizona, and Miami, Florida. These new markets will allow Wonderdog to make its preventive healthcare platform available to a larger number of dog owners.
The investment will also help the company continue improving its technology while building the infrastructure needed to support future growth.
Leadership Driving the Company’s Vision
Wonderdog was founded by Jeff Safenowitz and Patrick Riley. The company’s leadership team also includes Dr. Evan Antin, who serves as Chief Medical Officer and brings veterinary expertise to the platform’s development.
Together, the team is focused on combining veterinary knowledge with artificial intelligence to create tools that help dog owners better understand and monitor their pets’ health.
Looking Ahead
With the new funding in place, Wonderdog is preparing for its next phase of growth by expanding its geographic reach and enhancing its AI-powered platform. The company will focus on scaling its at-home veterinary services, strengthening its mobile technology, and delivering preventive health solutions to more dog owners.
The $5 million pre-seed investment marks an important milestone for Wonderdog as it builds its presence in the pet health technology sector and continues developing tools that support canine preventive care through AI and at-home diagnostics.
