Getting an accurate diagnosis for chronic respiratory diseases can take time, delaying treatment for many patients. Cambridge-based health technology company TidalSense is working to improve that process with its AI-powered respiratory diagnostic technology. The company has now secured $19 million in funding, giving it fresh resources to expand its commercial operations, enter new markets, and bring its diagnostic platform to more healthcare providers.
The latest investment reflects growing confidence in AI-driven healthcare solutions that help clinicians diagnose respiratory diseases more effectively. TidalSense will use the funding to strengthen its presence in the UK, expand across Europe, and prepare for entry into the United States.
Funding round backed by new and existing investors
The $19 million funding round welcomed Cross-Border Impact Ventures as a new investor. Existing investors BGF, Airstream Capital, and Foresight Group also participated in the round.
With this latest investment, TidalSense has now raised approximately $40 million, including around $11 million in grant funding. The grant support has come from organisations including Innovate UK, SBRI Healthcare, National Institute for Health and Care Research (NIHR), and Asthma + Lung UK.
The company said the new capital will help accelerate commercial growth, support international expansion, and increase access to its respiratory diagnostic technology.
AI technology focuses on COPD diagnosis
TidalSense develops an AI-powered respiratory diagnostic platform designed to support the diagnosis of chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD). Its technology combines artificial intelligence with respiratory biomarkers to help healthcare professionals identify the condition more accurately.
The company aims to make respiratory diagnostics more accessible by providing clinicians with advanced diagnostic tools that can support earlier and more informed clinical decisions.
TidalSense was previously known as Cambridge Respiratory Innovations before adopting its current name.
CEO outlines the company’s next phase
Commenting on the funding, Ameera Patel, Chief Executive Officer of TidalSense, said the investment will help the company expand access to respiratory diagnostics and bring its technology to more healthcare providers and patients worldwide.
The company believes wider availability of accurate diagnostic tools can help improve the management of chronic respiratory diseases, particularly COPD, which affects millions of people globally.
Expanding beyond the UK
TidalSense plans to use the new funding to grow its commercial operations across the United Kingdom while expanding into European markets. The company is also preparing for future entry into the US healthcare market as it continues to scale its business.
The expansion comes at a time when healthcare providers are increasingly adopting AI-enabled technologies to improve diagnosis and patient care. By focusing on respiratory diagnostics, TidalSense aims to support clinicians with innovative tools that fit into modern healthcare systems.
Looking ahead
The $19 million funding round marks an important milestone for TidalSense as it moves into its next stage of growth. Backed by both new and existing investors, the Cambridge-based company plans to expand the reach of its AI-powered COPD diagnostic technology while strengthening its commercial presence in key international markets.
As demand grows for more advanced diagnostic solutions, TidalSense is positioning itself to play a larger role in improving respiratory healthcare through technology-driven innovation.
