Turning a promising cancer treatment into a medicine that reaches patients requires years of clinical research and steady investment. Brenus Pharma has taken another step in that process by raising €11 million in a Series A extension, giving the French biotechnology company additional funding to continue developing its lead cancer therapy.
The new investment brings Brenus Pharma’s total funding to €38 million since the company was founded. According to the company, the capital will be used to complete the Phase I clinical trial of STC-1010, its lead immunotherapy candidate, and to continue developing its research platform for future oncology programs.
New and Existing Investors Back the Round
The Series A extension was supported by existing investors Angelor, UI Investissement, Crédit Agricole, Noshaq, Orsa, BIO JAG, and Bpifrance through non-dilutive funding.
The round also welcomed two new investors, Sambrinvest from Belgium and Korea Omega Investment Corp. Their participation adds international backing to Brenus Pharma as the company continues its clinical research.
Focus Stays on STC-1010
Founded in 2019 and based in Lyon, France, Brenus Pharma develops cancer immunotherapies. Its lead program, STC-1010, is currently in a Phase I clinical trial for microsatellite-stable metastatic colorectal cancer (MSS mCRC).
MSS mCRC is the most common form of metastatic colorectal cancer. Brenus Pharma is evaluating STC-1010 in an early-stage clinical study to assess its safety and gather initial clinical data. The company said the newly raised funding will help complete this Phase I program.
Continuing Development Beyond One Program
In addition to supporting STC-1010, the funding will allow Brenus Pharma to continue developing its proprietary research platform.
According to the company, the platform is designed to support the discovery and development of additional immunotherapy candidates for solid tumors. These programs remain in the research and clinical development stage and have not received regulatory approval.
CEO on the Latest Investment
Paul Bravetti, Chief Executive Officer of Brenus Pharma, said the company is pleased to receive continued support from existing investors while also welcoming new partners from Europe and the Asia-Pacific region.
He added that the funding will help complete the Phase I clinical development of STC-1010 and support work on the company’s broader research platform and future pipeline.
Looking Ahead
The latest funding gives Brenus Pharma additional resources as it continues clinical testing of its lead therapy. While STC-1010 is still in the early stages of development, the investment allows the company to move forward with its planned clinical program and continue building its pipeline of cancer treatment candidates.
For Brenus Pharma, this funding round marks another milestone in its research journey. The company’s immediate focus remains on completing the Phase I study of STC-1010 while advancing the scientific work needed for future oncology programs. Every next step will depend on the results generated during clinical development and the regulatory process that follows.
