Expedition Therapeutics has raised $115 million in an oversubscribed Series B funding round, marking a significant step forward for the clinical-stage biotechnology company. The new investment will help the company advance its lead drug candidate through Phase 2 clinical development while expanding its research pipeline and strengthening its operations. The funding reflects growing investor confidence in Expedition Therapeutics’ approach to developing new treatments for chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD), a condition that affects millions of people around the world.

Funding Led by General Atlantic

The Series B financing was led by General Atlantic. New investors RA Capital Management and Vivo Capital also joined the round. Existing investors, including Novo Holdings, Sofinnova Investments, Forbion, Dawn Biopharma, and Sanofi Ventures, participated in the financing, continuing their support for the company’s long-term growth.

According to Expedition Therapeutics, the capital will primarily fund the ongoing global Phase 2 clinical trial of its lead drug candidate, EXPD-101. The company will also use the proceeds to expand its research pipeline and strengthen its clinical, regulatory, and operational capabilities.

Advancing a New Approach to COPD

Expedition Therapeutics is developing EXPD-101, an oral DPP1 (dipeptidyl peptidase-1) inhibitor designed to target neutrophilic inflammation, a key driver of chronic obstructive pulmonary disease.

The company has also announced that the first patient has been dosed in its global Phase 2 clinical trial evaluating EXPD-101 in people living with COPD. The study will assess the drug candidate’s safety and effectiveness as the company continues its clinical development program.

COPD is a progressive lung disease that makes breathing difficult and remains one of the leading causes of illness and death worldwide. While several treatments are available to help manage symptoms, there is still a need for new therapies that address the underlying disease process.

Building on Earlier Progress

The latest financing follows Expedition Therapeutics’ $165 million Series A funding announced in 2025. That investment enabled the company to launch its clinical development program for EXPD-101 and build the foundation for its research efforts.

Since then, Expedition Therapeutics has focused on advancing its lead program through clinical development while continuing to grow its scientific and operational capabilities.

The company believes the new funding will provide the resources needed to generate important clinical data and support the next stages of development for EXPD-101.

Leadership Looks Ahead

Yi Larson, President and Chief Executive Officer of Expedition Therapeutics, said the Series B financing will allow the company to continue advancing EXPD-101 through its ongoing Phase 2 clinical trial while investing in its broader pipeline and organizational growth.

The company remains focused on developing innovative therapies for patients with COPD, an area where significant unmet medical needs continue to exist.

Strong Investor Confidence

The successful completion of the oversubscribed Series B round highlights strong support from both new and existing investors. Their continued backing reflects confidence in Expedition Therapeutics’ scientific strategy, clinical development plans, and leadership team.

As the Phase 2 study progresses, Expedition Therapeutics aims to generate clinical evidence that could support the future development of EXPD-101. With fresh capital, experienced investors, and an active clinical program, the company is well positioned to continue advancing its research and pursue new treatment options for people living with COPD.
